A hungry raccoon has developed an ingenious way to feed herself and her babies - by stealing cat food then knocking on the homeowner's glass door to demand more.

Much to the resident's surprise, the greedy mammal developed a habit of using a rock to bang on the door when it wants more food.

Capturing its audacious behaviour on camera, she revealed she had nicknamed it Rocksy and despite the raccoon having scratched her glass, said she enjoyed it.

In the video, the homeowner is heard narrating while filming the raccoon on her porch as it bangs on her window for several minutes.

Holding a small stone in its paws, it stretches onto its back feet and using its front paws, repeatedly hits the glass with the rock.

The narrator says: 'Someone is knocking at the door, who could it be? Is it Rocksy? Is the cat food bowl empty again?

'This raccoon that I've named Rocksy steals cat food when the bowl's empty, she gets a rock and knocks on my door and it's scratched all the way across.

'This raccoon cracks me up, and she's nursing - she's got babies.'

She adds: 'Just because you see a raccoon out in the day, it does not mean it has rabies, that is such a myth, usually it's a nursing mother raccoon out trying to get food for her babies.

'I love her so much, she's so funny. She does this all the time. She's so good at it too.'

Well she certainly gets attention doing that. Amazing. Animals have a lot more brains and sense than a lot of humans.
