Carol Cavalaris grew up in Southern California and had been creating since childhood. Her artistic nature always had her drawing, painting or making something. She also enjoyed sculpting and making stained glass art. Some of her careers have included being a display artist, an interior designer, a graphic artist, a copywriter, a songwriter, a novelist, and a creative director. She also owned an ad agency with her husband for years.
Carol currently lives in Black Hawk, Colorado in the middle of a forest in the high country. She has said that it is the wild beauty of her surroundings that inspires her to create her digital paintings of wildlife and nature. She describes her creative process as, " I see the uniqueness in every living being as a momentary gift to be treasured. And so it is this need to capture the life force, to enhance and celebrate it, and even give it life long after it has faded, that gives meaning to my work. Creating, learning, and growing artistically have kept the joy alive and it is my passion to bring healing joy and beauty to others."
Painting wildlife and nature are her passions. Although she does have a fine art background in oil painting, it is through the freedom of the digital medium that really stimulates her imagination and offers so many exciting possibilities. She likes to explore art programs, like Photoshop, and although she is still using brushes to paint, it is the computer screen that is now her main canvas. She love to blend reality and fantasy together as she combines photo sources and painting techniques to create images that she calls "living art."
Carol describes her work as "My Language of Flowers series was inspired by my fascination with the colors and textures of flowers, and the way they always speak to my heart. My Spirit Of The Wild series was inspired by my love for animals. Many of the creatures in this series are or were at one time among the endangered species. I believe each has something precious and special to give to all of us and each painting is a tribute to these amazing creatures, where I strive to capture their essence. Many of the animals I paint have a spiritual quality with the power to heal hearts and spirits, if one is open to their message."
Currently she exhibits her work in several Colorado galleries, and her art is in private collections all over the world. She is also a freelance artist for The Mountain, and many of her designs are on art T-Shirts selling around the world. Her art is also licensed and on various products, including puzzles, electronic skins, greeting cards, and many other items. Enjoy some of her beautiful creations below.
