Animal rescuers spend many countless and thankless hours doing what they can to save another animal's life. The unfairness of it all is something they are always trying to balance out, and without expectation of anything in return. Of course the animals that are saved are always grateful but society at large does not place much value on this type of service.

So sometimes it is the Universe that answers in a more mysterious way than anyone would really expect. The video below tells the story of a woman who had devoted her life to helping and saving animals. She managed a no-kill shelter where she worked tirelessly to place homeless animals. Her reward was knowing that a homeless animal was now in a safe and loving home. When America's greatest, most recent natural disaster took place in 2005 with hurricane Katrina, she felt the call to go down there and be of service in helping the many frightened and displaced pets.

In rescue, among the many animals that one comes across, there is always one or two that are special. In this case it was a dog that stole the heart of this woman. So when it was time for her to return home, this particular dog went along with her. By the time she had reached southern IL., she came across a very bad car accident. In a split second she also became a part of this accident herself. With multiple injuries suffered from the accident, the hospital decided to take an MRI to see just how extensively she was hurt. It was at this time that the MRI picked up on another very serious and life threatening condition that she had.

During her recovery she also felt that the animals gave her the strength to make it through. It is her feeling that because she gave of herself to help the homeless animals that it was also returned to her in a way that ended up saving her life. Watch the video below to see how her kindness was returned many times back to her.

So what happened to the dog she was taking home? That van looked really bad and if she was so badly hurt the dog must have been hurt too?
