Firefighters rescue dogs, cats from California house fire

Love can be found in all places around the world. There are those who express a love of all living things through the nature of their work every day also. They put their lives on the line in order to save those who are in peril. Firefighters are a group of people who fall under this category and they are many times the unsung heroes who rescue both people and their pets.

Recently in Garden Grove, California, firefighters rescued a dog and two cats while fighting a house fire on Thursday morning. Fortunately another dog made it out on its own. The home was that of Norma Arbotast, who was also there at the time. She recollected that the firefighting team was there in just 5 minutes to help save her, her precious animals and her home.

When the firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke permeating the house from the back bedroom according to Garden Grove fire Battalion Chief Chuck Green. About 20 Anaheim and Garden Grove firefighters were present at the scene. The fire was very close to Disneyland in Anaheim, Cal. where a strong odor was reported also around the same time that turned out to be from the fire. The flames were reported at about 9:15 a.m. on Thursday but were controlled about 30 minutes later.

Two human residents that were inside got out safely on their own but some of the animals that lived there needed to be pulled from the burning house. Sage, a black Labrador, got out of the house on his own while firefighters rescued two cats, Magic and Patches, and Clyde, a pitbull. Norma Arbotast, the owner, summed up her feelings perfectly when she said; "The most important thing is that we're all OK. Everything else could be replaced."
