The Guiness Book of World Records has recognized Zeus, a 3-year-old Great Dane who measures 44 inches from foot to shoulder.

The 3-year-old behemoth named after the Greek god of thunder is the world’s tallest dog, according to the latest edition of the Guinness Book of Records, measuring 44 inches from foot to shoulder.

He’s a handful, but his Otsego, Mich., owners love him — which matches a new survey that dogs really are man, and a woman’s, best friend.

Three in five Americans have a pet — and two-thirds of them have a dog, according to a Harris Poll released Thursday.

Some 52% have a cat and 12% have fish. About 7% own a bird and 9% say they have another type of pet.

More than 90% of owners consider their pet to be a member of the family.

The survey found 51% of pet owners say they frequently let their pet sleep in the bed with them .

It’s unlikely anyone would want to share a bed — or even an RV — with Zeus. The immense animal measures 7-feet-4 standing on his hind legs. He weighs 155 pounds, drinks from the kitchen sink without having to lift his head and eats a 30-pound bag of dog food every two weeks. (Source)

I have to agree with anonymous - though I remember a dobe I once had that had such nervous energy that he always looked under nurished, but he did have more meat on him that Zeus. *maybe that 30 d bag is not enough* lol

@anonymous on sep 15 at 10:13am and 7:03am Great danes, like grey hounds, are a naturally skinny dog. granted he could use more muscle but getting the exercise for a dog like that is near impossible, he would have to be running day and night and almost never stop due to his size. that on top of probably a 44lb bag of dog food every few days.

He is a beautiful dog, would look better with more weight on him....don't think 30 pounds of dog food is enough for him....he needs more meat on his bones.

Zues is beautiful, as all dogs are, and needs to weigh at least 20 pounds more than he does now. I raised Danes and I would be very worried if one of mine was this large and weighed so little. It will not hurt him to have more to eat. Thirty pounds in two weeks is pittiful little for a dog his size. Feed him please!!!!
