Santa Fe Independent Film Festival

Native American actor & blues musician Gary Farmer serves as co-chair on the advisory board of the Santa Fe Independent film festival (SFIFF). The 4th annual film-fest runs Oct. 17 - 21, 2012 at Santa Fe, N.M. According to the official website of SFIFF they are -“dedicated to the vision of supporting local filmmakers living and working in New Mexico while bringing the best films the cinematic world has to offer to our thriving artistic community and growing audience.

Our goal is to create a dialogue between filmmakers of diverse visions and cultures, to enrich our community through innovative experiences and economic opportunities, and to support a vibrant and sustainable filmmaking future in New Mexico by showcasing the latest talent in independent films both local and global.”

Native American director 'Chris Eyre' will head the panel discussion on movie directing Friday Oct. 19, 2012 at 1 p.m. Other directors will join Chris as they converse the issues on directing a movie & work toward the vision. This panel discussion is free to the public & will take place in ‘Warehouse 21’ at Santa Fe.

The screenwriting panel will be with Ron Bloomberg, Judy Blume & Larry Blume Saturday Oct. 20, 2012 at 4 p.m. They are the filmmakers behind the movie ‘Tiger Eyes” which stars Native comedian Tatanka Means. Admission to this panel discussion is $5 & will also take place at ‘Warehouse 21.’

Chris Eyre will hold a master discussion on independent filmmaking Oct. 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. He will be joined by Native actors Wes Studi & Gary Farmer. Film clips will be shown to the audience plus the panelists will answer questions about independent filmmaking. Admission to this panel discussion is $5 & will be held at ‘Warehouse 21.’


The independent film 'Tiger Eyes' will screen on Oct. 21, 2012 at 4 p.m. in the Lensic performing arts center at downtown Santa Fe. This is the New Mexico premiere of the film that stars Willa Holland & Tatanka Means. It is based on the popular teen novel by Judy Blume. The story surrounds Willa who is dealing with the death of her father. She travels to Los Alamos, N.M. with her mother, brother & befriends a young male named ‘Wolf.’ He changes the outlook her life.
