World Wildlife Fund Up to Protect Polar Bears (Video)

We all know that the polar bear's habitat is drastically shrinking. On top of that there are still places in the world that allow hunting of polar bears.

Their future can be seen as rather bleak with all the challenges facing them. November and December are the birthing months for polar bears but without the proper environment to live and raise their offspring in, many of these babies may not survive.

WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and Coca-Cola have decided to team up again to help create a place where polar bears and local communities can thrive. In the past five years Coca-Cola has supported WWF's Arctic research team as they studied polar bears in their natural habitat.

WWF also protected the animals from industrial activity and educated people about the largest threats to the polar bear's icy habitat.

The WWF team's important field work led to a better understanding of the threats polar bear families face. The most serious of these threats is the rapidly melting arctic sea ice. Extremely susceptible to climate change is the Arctic, which spans the United States, Canada, Denmark, Greenland, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, and Sweden.

Since the threats to polar bears and the entire Arctic region, are not about to go away, Coca-Cola has partnered with WWF to create a place that polar bears can call home. When the project is finished the new "Arctic Home" will be twice the size of Texas.

Coca-Cola will match up to $1,000,000 in total donations made through February 15, 2013 to the "Arctic Home" project.

WWF has created a video that talks about this project. Watch the video below.

I can't believe it. This brings tears of relief to my eyes... There is hope.

Delighted by the project. Disgusted by Coca Cloa's miserly contribution - a mere 'drop in the ocean' to them and just buying PR. I'd take the money from anywhere to save the bears though. Just please NEVER drink the product as it will ruin your health. Proven fact.
