Dog ends up stuck on island in the Clackamas River (Photos - Video)

Rescuers came to the aid of a dog that was stranded on an island in the Clackamas River.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office got a call about the dog around 10:30 a.m. Monday. The dog was stuck on an island near the 17400 block of South Palmer Road in Oregon City.

Rescuers from Clackamas Fire District #1 gathered up their gear and headed to the location.

The dog, a 30-pound male Chow mix, initially struggled against his rescuers and swam across the river. The rescue crew was able to reach the dog and once he was inside the sheriff's boat, he calmed down.

The dog did not have a collar or a name tag and was handed over to Clackamas County Dog Services.

If you or someone you know who owns the dog, call Clackamas County Dog Control at (503) 722-6519.
