A two-legged stray dog has given birth to a litter of puppies in China - and all of their legs are in full working order.

The stray, which was named Si Bao by an owner who later abandoned her, gave birth to four healthy puppies near Kouguan railway station in Datong, Shanxi Province in the north of the country.

Shi Bao was made one of the city's many strays after her owner moved out of the neighbourhood and decided not to take her with him, but became well known locally when she lost her two rear legs after being hit by a speeding train two years ago.

Balancing on just her forelegs, Shi Bao nuzzles her puppies lovingly as she takes them for a walk in the area around the train station.

China has an estimated 130 million stray dogs - many them victims of a growing urbanisation that has seen millions of people move into high-rise buildings with little room for pets.

It's a tough life on the street for many of the dogs. As well as state-sponsored extermination campaigns in many cities, there is also widespread abuse of strays by members of the public, and the risk of being captured for dog meat or succumbing to hunger and disease.

It is sad that people just up and leave their pets especially for the dog in this case who struggles on two legs and tries to survive and now has puppies to take care off. This wee dog and her pups certainly deserves a loving home to care for her and her babies. This story really pulls on the heart stings just to see the effort she has to put in on a daily basis just to survive and the love and care she gives to her pups. It has to be so hard and a constant struggle daily especially when each day she is faced with so many unknowns that could end her life and the lives of her pups. I hope she and her pups are being cared for now and that they find a loving caring home to spend the rest of their days knowing someone cares.

I have to say if this doesn't touch someones heart Then I really don't know whats a matter with us humans.I can't see how people can just get up and move and leave these poor defenseless creatures to fend for themselves. Now this cute dog has been fending for herself and in the process has gotten hit by a train and lost 2 legs and still has manged to survive. that shows me how courageous this dog has been. and now she's faced with another challenge raising four little puppies.I have no doubt that she will do what she most. But I pray that some kind heart person will open their heart and home up to this precious dog and her family.I believe she deserves a chance for a better quality of life for herself and a better future for her puppies. So please someone open your heart. I'm very sure you will get back more than you give you will have the love of this little dog and here loyalty. What gifts. I know thats what I have with my little girl. She brings me so much joy.

If it were possible, I would give Si Pao a trip to the vet, a bath, and a home with a loving people family. She is adorable, a survivor and a good mother! She deserves a better life.
