Have you heard the story of the wolf and the goat?

The orphan wolf cub was found in the wild by villagers from Nanyuanzi village, Xinjiang, three years ago, reports People's Daily.

Chen Ming said: "Some villagers went out hunting and found this newborn wolf, and they gave it to me to raise as my goat had milk."

Chen raised the wolf at his home, giving it goat's milk, and says that the now three-year-old wolf is inseparable from his goat mate.

"They eat and sleep together. Everyone who comes to my home is surprised by the scene; that prey is very good friends with the predator," added Chen.

However, he said he was planning to release the wolf back into the wild so it could live a more natural life. He added" "He is a wild animal and it's not fair to make him a pet forever."

I can't help but to be slightly discouraged by the fact that he wants to release it back into the wild. While usually that is the ideal situation, I worry that this wolf does not have the necessary skills and will be too accustomed to humans now which will equate to his murder. If the person who currently is taking care of him cannot give the wolf what he needs, perhaps he is better off at a sanctuary. This wolf is already 3 years old and was raised by goats and humans. Considerably late to try and force this wolf to fend for himself now.

Too late to go back to the wild..they are a pack animal and he doesnt have a pack...nor would he understand how to live if he encountered a pack..would be a sad life for him

I agree it to late to go back he doesn't have the instinct.

Please please do NOT release it! It doesn't have a fear of humans and looks to them as a food source. Hunting is learned through the pack. Wolves don't just go out and do it. So when he's starving, which he WILL be, he will be drawn to humans to provide a meal. And what do you think people are going to do when they see a wolf trotting up to them? Please look to a wolf sanctuary if he cannot be kept safe.

Too LATE to release the wolf into the wild. Better to place him in a sanctuary WITH his now lifelong friend the goat. The fact that the person these animals are with even considered releasing him makes him suspect in terms of properly protecting either one of these precious animals. Such a beautiful example of how such animals are capable of expressing feelings. Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures.

Don't release the wolf in the wild. It will die of starvation. He had no pack to learn the skills of hunting for food. It's way to old now" better find a good sanctuary.

I agree, the wolf won't be able to.survive.. He needs to reconsider and keep the wolf.

    Please don't release that wolf.

Please don't release him, he is too habituated to humans and will die from starvation or be killed

  14. He will not leave, and if let free somewhere else, will make his way home, if he survives the journey. At 3 years old it is way too late to release him. I had a wolf hybrid that ate through a door once because he was not near me, and this one will regard the goat the same way: HIS goat. Wolves are very clear on what is theirs.
