Watch this amazing video of some very courageous men freeing this poor lynx from a cruel trap!

There are still on this planet human beings worthy of the name who are able to counteract the harmful effects of other less than worthy humans. Despite being caught in a leg trap, a frightened lynx is able to return to the wild.... free on all 4 legs thanks to these gentlemen!

Canada lynx were hunted and trapped until the early 1990s, when population declines became apparent. In 2000, lynx were federally listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

They’re solitary animals, adapted to life on high mountain ridges. Big feet and long legs help lynx navigate deep snow and stalk snowshoe hares, their preferred diet.

Climate change is expected to make life harder for lynx, which occupy a specialized habitat.

Lynx compete with the less snow-adapted bobcats for food. Sparser snowpacks and more rain will allow bobcats to expand into higher elevations, occupying territory that was once the exclusive domain of lynx

Well done gentlemen. To the commenter who spoke of a different approach, she/he was terrified anyway, but they did it absolutely correctly. Their use of the forked branches was inspired. No pain for her/him, but safety for all. And he/she got away. :)

Steel-jaw leghold traps have been illegal since 1995 in Canada - and Russia, the EU & the USA all have bans on steel-jaw leghold traps. Trapping is still an important part of game management, but this type of trapping wouldn't be legal.

What a wonderful act of compassion! These barbaric leghold traps should be banned everywhere, and I can't understand why they haven't been. Yes, the rescue seemed to take forever but it was only a few minutes and these men aren't experienced rescuers/rehabbers knowledgeable in how to handle wild animals. Good job guys!

Lmao...! And your plan of saving that beautiful (kill you in a second) animal would've been.....? These guys are absolutely amazing they with out a doubt risked their lives to save another's...! Would you have done the same..?? Most likely not.. they saved its life in minutes without causing it any harm..!! Absolutely amazing job, hats off to 2 very brave kind hearted men..!

  56. M.J.B says:

Wonderful to see such compassion, makes my heart feel good!!!

These responces were forgetting about all the other creatures that this lynx is going to kill so it can survive. Grouse, rabbits and every other living thing tat it can stalk. The lynx is a renewable resource that has been harvested as long as humans have been around. The harvesting of fur bearing animals is not the cause of depleted populations, the loss of habitat is. All of these cabins on the lake shores cause more pain and destruction than any fur harvester has. ever one. All for the sake of pleasure to urban people The release of this lynx probably took food from the table of a family that was dependant on the sale of the pelt. IF YOU HAVEST THE PREY YOU ALSO HAVE TO HARVEST THE PREDATOR. or they end up starving to death or die of a slow acting desease.. How many of you bleeding hearts hav witnessed a wild animal --or domestic-- die of mites. It is a horrible way to die Thank you for your time.

I hope the lynx's leg didn't get infected; I would have called expert wildlife rescuers if response were quick.

My kudos go out to these men, I can see that although the lynx was scared it relaxed in the end and allowed them to hold it's head down, if it hadn't known they were trying to help they could never have gotten the forked stick any where near it, it would have ripped it's paw out of the trap to get away from the men. Thank God there are good animal lovers left in this world.

Hopefully they destroyed the leg trap. It would be nice it the people that set them would get caught in a bear trap. And then they would know how it felt.

  70. Anonymous says:

Good Job ---destroy the trap so it won't injure and more innocent endangered animals.

  71. Mila Ug-S says:

    good men (y) !!

  72. Anonymous says:

Glad they let the lynx go. But would have loved to see them take the trap away! Trapping should be BANNED everywhere! That trapping is legal is just incredible...since the trap won't choose what animal will get caught...no way either to control how often the trapper will check his traps, and the animals cought suffer horrendously...Fur should be abandoned completely in clothing...to kill animals for vanity should not be allowed today...Useless politicians who don't dare to just make a simple decision and implement it! Trapping kills endangered species and is of NO utility at all!!!!!

  73. Unknown says:

    Bon Travail!

  74. Princess says:

thank the lord for ppl that care about our willdlife

  75. Anonymous says:

Alberta Canada horribly uses these types of traps with bait and poison to kill predators like lynx, wolves, bears so that outfitters from the US can make big $ with trophy hunting for big game in our public land; and so the resource industries can continue to expand and pollute ecosystems. Our Environment ad Sustainable Resources dept. has the outfitters sponsor their webpage. Big oil, big greed - no morals or ethics or compassion. They also encourage fur farms where the animals are kept in tiny cages.

  76. Anonymous says:

French is also a national language in Canada

  77. PW Miley says:

Thank you for releasing that beautiful animal. Shame on any country that uses traps like these.

  78. Thankyou for setting them free, all traps should be banned

  79. Unknown says:

That's awesome that these men rescued this beautiful Lynx. All my respect & praise go out to these men. You give me hope there are still compassionate humans respecting & appreciating wonderful wildlife. Please the trapper & lock him in this trap. Thank you for helping this gorgeous lynx.

  80. marcel says:

    Bien fait les gars.

  81. Anonymous says:

Sadly this is why trapping is inhumane and should be outlawed! The guys are not heroes, they are trappers that caught the wrong animal. More than likely even though this Lynx was released it will probably die with in the next few weeks from the stress of being trapped.

  82. Anonymous says:

The beauty of this is that the guys never quit trying and were successful.

  83. Who sets these traps are a great motherfuckers!

  84. Unknown says:

    Good onya guys....

  86. Morgana says:

His beautiful eyes are as trying to say, "why are you treating me so cruelly, what have I done to you, but I know how to suffer, how to bear the tortures you enforced to me with dignity". Oh, how admire and love these animals so dignified in cruelty, even in death.

  87. Morgana says:

Run baby safe and free, thank you kind people

  88. MamaCat says:

Thank you to the brave men who never gave up and freed this beautiful animal. You guys were really slick at coming up with what you needed with what was at hand. It showed your determination. Good job!!
