Video footage from Zambia shows the amazing moment a young elephant miraculously fought off a 14 member pride of female lions in Zambia.

The video was shot by guests on a game drive at Norman Carr Safaris Chinzombo Camp who came across the scene at sunset.

The video shows a lion climbing on the back of the elephant and biting as the other lions surround the creature. The elephant then runs towards the water, but by then two lions have mounted the elephant’s back and are holding on stubbornly, trying to bring the elephant to the ground.

The elephant somehow manages to make it into the water with just one lion on its back and begins to lash out and scatter the lions. As the last lion falls off, the elephant then audaciously charges at the predators.

The elephant manages to make it to the other side of the water but one of the lions is still in pursuit, noticing that the elephant appears to be struggling to stay upright after the ordeal. However, in one last feat of courage, the elephant turns and charges down the lion and the rest of the herd once more.
