Friday

She was dropped off in the parking lot of a Sam's Club in Memphis, Tennessee. Her owner drove away and never came back.

And for days, this dog howled.

Mary Murphy, a volunteer at Arrow Dog Rescue, was leaving Sam's Club when she came across the howling dog. But she couldn't one could get close enough to the dog to slip a collar around her neck. So Murphy started spending her days in the parking lot too. She would bring a chair. A book. Sometimes, even her own dog.

Then, after the dog had spent nine days in the parking lot, Murphy, with some help from the owner of a neighboring car lot, slipped a collar around her neck.

Gradually, Murphy earned the dog's trust. And soon, the dog had a new name. Samantha. Next?

A new life. Samantha is in the care of Arrow Dog Rescue and will soon be looking for a foster home.

Disgusting heartless and cowardly thing to do, thank god for people who actually care about animals, so sad....

  5. Unknown says:

It is heart-wrenching to hear of such cold heartless acts of the human species. A huge Thank you to all that truly care. Mary is amazing and its a relief to know Samantha will end up in a great happy home.

  6. I can't imagine what conditions brought them to abandoning this animal. Who knows what their situation is?

  7. do not deserve to have any animal, shameful, and makes me very sad that people can treat animals this way, they are pack creatures and bond with their owners. So why can't they ensure her safety by at least contacting an animal shelter

Abandonment is lazy and heartless. Amazing it took 9 days of grieving for the dog to allow herself to be comforted. Bless those who keep their heart and eyes open for the benefit of all sentient beings!

Carla Lopez: Who CARES what their situation is? This is totally unacceptable. If they could not keep her, contact a rescue group, try to have someone adopt her, take her to a shelter. Don't just throw her out in the middle of a Sam's parking lot. I am involved in rescue and their is ALWAYS an option - ALWAYS - other than throwing them out like trash.

  10. Unknown says:

Sick....absolutely sick. I dont give a rats rear end what their situation is. You dont throw out an animal like a peice of trash. They arent disposable. They should have taken the poor dog to a shelter. There is NO excuse for this.

Find them. Take them somewhere (the further out the better. and then - abandom THEM!

No matter what the circumstances were YOU DO NOT GET RID OF FAMILY PERIOD.

  14. There is just no words for this act of cruelty! I can actually say, that over the 38 years I have lived in the country where I do, that most of my dogs and cats, have been drop offs!! I have raised some pretty darn beautiful spirits that someone just threw away like it were garbage! I am so happy this sweet girl is doing better. God bless her a forever home soon if not already. Merry Christmas "Samantha"...you deserve a great big Christmas bone.

This is deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. How anyone could do this to a sentient being is beyond me. So glad that Mary was in a position to be able to take the care and time to rescue this sweet dog.

  18. Gaetano says:

  21. Naji says:

  22. Sad - I am so sick of abusive owners. I hope this beautiful dog finds a better home.

  23. Unknown says:
