This is the story of four rescued baby crows that were raised by a loving family. They learned to say "hello" and how to become independent. Eventually they were accepted by a family of wild crows.

Even though they fly south each winter, they always return each spring to literally say hello to the family that saved them.

When one man found a nest of four baby crows fallen from a tree, he tried to put the nest back from whence it came. However, after waiting a bit, he realized that the mother was no more. That’s when he decided to help these little birds himself.

With the help of a veterinarian, the birds were hand-fed and cared for so that they’d be able to eventually return to the wild. Being the intelligent animals that they are, all four of these birds quickly caught on to the humans’ attempts to teach them their wild bird ways.

What’s truly incredible about these crows is that they even learned how to say “Hello” to their people without any provocation to do so. They also used to bring presents of leaves and worms to the humans when they were learning to hunt and gather.

Now, at least a couple of these birds comes back every spring to say “Hello” to their people parents even after they’ve been accepted by a family of wild birds.

When I was young a baby robin fell out of his nest. I fed him canned dog food from an eye dropper until he was old enough to eat. I taught him how to get worms by digging beside him. I named him hop along because he would hop along my arm to my shoulder& give me a little peck. I eventually let him live outside & he flew along side me for the yr. he was here. I often thought the Robins I saw the following yr. were from here.

We raised a dove that fell during a storm. We had her for years, when we moved to a spot with nice trees we let her free, she nested several times in the neighbours window box. She would land on our heads and follow us in the garden.

I do wild bird rehab, mostly crows, and I have a million questions about this! It looks SO much better than having to keep them in cages. I'd love to contact them if it's possible!

I'd be happy to speak to you about the Freds. It was our family that raised them.
