Humans aren’t New Jersey’s only creatures needing a break from the heat now and again. After all, bears get hot and tired, too — and in Jersey, it looks like they prefer to take their rest in hammocks.

Warren County, New Jersey resident Carol Harrington found that out recently when she stumbled upon a bear family taking advantage of her own backyard hammock.

A mama bear and her two cubs apparently happened upon the hammock earlier this week and were endlessly fascinated, albeit equally uncoordinated. Unfortunately, as you can see in the video above, those Jersey bears just can’t seem to get a good position going for very long.

But it looked like a pretty relaxing time for the bear family, anyway — though, maybe not as much as relaxing a time as that bear family had last month when they managed to find an open swimming pool in Rockaway Township. Now that is a good way to cool off.

“Look, they’re having so much fun, though,” Harrington says of the bears as a dog growls off-camera.

Luckily, it looks like the bears — and Harrington’s hammock — made it through the ordeal all right. Still, those little guys might want to work on their technique for next time.
