The Magnificent Seven is an upcoming American western action film directed by Antoine Fuqua, and written by Nic Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk.

A remake of the 1960 western film of the same name, which in turn was a remake of the 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai, the film stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Peter Sarsgaard and Haley Bennett.

The film will have its world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2016. It will also serve as the closing night film at the Venice Film Festival on September 9. The film was initially set to be released on January 13, 2017. However, in August 2015, Sony Pictures Entertainment moved the film up for a release on September 23, 2016

It’s a big deal because Martin is not only enrolled in a Tribe (not always guaranteed when Hollywood casts Natives), but also immersed in Native community and culture. Martin joins Tatanka Means, Jeremiah Bitsui, Misty Upham (Rest in Peace) and Adam Beach as Native actors who have had major roles in big budget, mainstream filmwork in the past couple of years.

Martin Sensmeier as Red Harvest, a Comanche warrior.

Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier), a character not in the original film. He is the Native American equivalent of the Avengers' Hawkeye -- an insanely-good bow and arrow expert. If the test screening reactions Fuqua witnessed were any indication, expect Red Harvest to emerge as a fan-favorite.
