Hoshi the American Eskimo dog may have trouble seeing, but that hasn’t stopped him from living his life to the fullest – and it’s all thanks to his best friend and guide dog, Zen.

When Hoshi was 11 years old, he had to have his eyes removed due to glaucoma.

Luckily for him, his owners had adopted another dog a few months before Hoshi’s surgery; Zen, a little pomeranian. Zen and Hoshi bonded instantly and quickly became best friends.

But after Hoshi lost his sight, their friendship became even stronger.

Hoshi began to rely on Zen to help him settle back into his former life.

Zen now acts as Hoshi’s own personal guide dog (he’s not a certified guide dog, to be clear. But you get the idea), leading him around whenever they go out for walks.

Their owners sometimes attach the two dogs’ leads together, so Zen can easily guide Hoshi along the way. But even when they’re not attached, Zen always makes sure to keep an eye on his best friend.
