 “Stand Up/Stand N Rock NoDAPL” will be recognized at this year’s VMAS, as a nominee in the category “Best Fight Against the System.” A category that reflects the audience’s passion and activism around social justice issues

The song, which was recorded by Taboo of Black Eyed Peas and the “Magnificent Seven”; a group of Native American artist from different tribes. Serves as a powerful song serves as a statement of support to those who have embraced the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). Native American actor Martin Sensmeire and actress/activist Shailene Woodley also make appearances in the nominated video.

Many Native American artists from various tribes, got together to create the song, which is meant to serve as a both a tool of awareness and anthem for the indigenous people across the country who have united in the effort to stop the DAPL.

Aside from the appearance of Sensmeire and Woodley; the video also feature real footage from the front lines at Standing Rock.

Fans can cast their vote now through August 27th at 3 p.m. as a means of supporting the Native American artists and spreading awareness of #NoDAPL and other indigenous resistance messages. The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday, August 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
