A mother dog was crying out for help after her puppy was badly wounded and lying in the street. Fortunately, Animal Aid Unlimited, India was contacted and came to help the distressed family.

When they arrived, they observed that when her baby cried, she cried too. Her pup appeared to have been mauled and was wailing in agony.

Animal Aid Unlimited shared: “She didn’t stop trying desperately to communicate as we gently lifted her puppy who had two deep wounds and placed him in the ambulance. We couldn’t bring her along because she had 4 other babies to watch over.”

They tried to communicate back to the mother dog, and she seemed to trust that the rescuers would take care of her baby.

“We would try our best to save her sweetheart and bring him home, and how we wished and hoped she would somehow understand.”

They took the pup back to their shelter and treated his puncture wounds. The pain from his wounds left him unable to walk.

"Her little one was so brave, and never struggled throughout his wound dressings. But he had a lingering problem: the wounds hurt him so badly he couldn’t walk for several days. We weren’t sure if the nerve damage was permanent.”

But after lots of rest, food and love Toggle began to feel much better.b nThe pup was soon running around, giving kisses to his rescuers.

But they knew his place was back with his mama and so they brought him home for a happy reunion with his family. The rescue pointed out that they will be back to spay the mother dog when her pups are a little bit older.

So he just went back to living on the street? Where he's vulnerable to another attack, disease, cars and cruel people? I understand things aren't like they are here in the States, but couldn't they take all of the dogs and find good homes for them? I just can't believe the puppy was returned to living feral instead of the whole family being rescued. So depressing.

    Right!?

I'll say like Bex, that is so depressing!!! Sure throw a bandage on and through them back into the lions den! Find them a home for crying out loud. That's not a life for them on the streets!

Wow!!! I don't think any of your READ what they stated about trying to bring the mama dog w/ them, but they couldn't since there was NO ROOM FOR HER AND THE OTHER 4 PUPPIES she had, but whatever. I'm sure they've thought about the things you've all suggested, but if they're feral, all they can do is what they've done already. And they're going back when the puppies are older to make sure the mama dog isn't burdened w/ another litter once these pups are grown. If they had the room and the means, I'm sure they would've opted to adopt the whole family out. Situations could change, people might still be interested in the dogs, but at the time of the rescue...at least they didn't just let the puppy or the rest of the family suffer.

Why didn't they rescue them all? That is terrible!

  6. I am happy they helped the puppy but why not take the whole family off the streets and help them become tame and rehome.

I thought the same as most people commenting here. Why did they not take all the dogs, mum and pups and try to find homes for them. They did what they could , resources permitting. Feral cats and dogs suffer terribly in India as do Humans. These wonderful people do the best they can to help. Thank you so much for caring for these poor animals.
