Tanja Askani Captures The Beauty of Wolves

Tanja Askani was born an animal lover and shared that love with her father as she grew up in Czechoslovakia. Her father taught her how to care for abandoned and sick animals and together they would find new homes for them. Animals were always a big part of her home life. It was from these beginnings that she also developed a love of photographing animals also, both domestic and wildlife.

In 1990 Tanja moved to Germany and her life involving animals really blossomed. She became a falconer at Wildpark Luneburger Heide and eventually was put in charge of several wolf packs at the park. She was involved with raising the wolves also. In the spring of 2010, Tanja was involved in flying to Canada and picking up several wolf pups to bring back to Europe. This was the culmination of the long fought for "Fresh Wolf Blood" project. A beautiful female wolf pup that she named Naaja ended up going back to Germany with Tanja.

Tanja is also a very dedicated and talented photographer, author and public speaker. Animals are the subject matter of course with wolves being her favorite. She also photographs other wildlife and domestic animals too. Her belief that supports her work is the total acceptance of the animals for who they really are void of any moral or romantic prejudices. And of course the natural affinity and love of animals that she was born with can be seen throughout everything she does.

Wow you are so blessed to connect with them like that. I just watched a show on Extreme Animals I forget the title but wolves were featured and they were shown as viscious while hunting and tearing up another animal for food. I love these animals and would love to have that connection. God bless your talent and keep up the good work. Nobody ever shows their soft side.

what a wonderful way to spend one's life...enjoying the love of these beautiful animals. tanja's pictures show the true nature of the wolf. that is the merit of a great photographer, to catch the personality of the subject, without words. the looks on these animals faces, the joy of the pack jumping up on her. oh, but be in her shoes!

Great. Do that with a wild wolf and let me know if you have a face left. Quit treating tame wolves like all are easy to let lick your face. I hope it licled its balls first. haha

you can't reveal your name yet call someone a fake, you are a coward and an ignorant jerk! and no, you'd not last a minute with wolves for they'd know rotten meat.

Thank you so very much. Wolves are by nature curious and intelligent. They are also playful. What you caught that I most want people to see is how gentle they are. Wolves are not viscous beings by any means. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

These wolves react the same as my Siberian. Totally lovable, and wanting attention. Wolves are beautiful animals and should be treated a lot better than what they are getting now.
