Recently the Perseid meteor showers took place in the skies above providing a spectacular show for those down below watching. The meteor showers actually peaked during the dates of Aug. 10 - 13th.
These showers also known as the "Tears of St. Lawrence" were believed to have been first seen nearly 2000 years ago. They are the most consistently anticipated natural phenomena of the skies as they occur on a annual basis.

Many people have actually seen these spectacular showers but how many have actually heard them? Since they are so far away we do not normally think of sound being associated with them, but there is indeed a voice to these meteor showers. The following sound clip was captured by the U.S. Air Force Space Surveillance Radar in Texas. It is the "recorded echoes" of the Perseid meteor shower.
Listen in awe as the Perseid meteor showers tell their tale of celestial wonder.

I love the sounds the universe make.

They also make a "popping" noise, similar to a far off firecracker. Dogs go crazy when they hear them.

That is fantastic! Nothing like being "out there"! Absolutely wonderful. I thank whoever did this for sharing it.
