Robert Winslow is an internationally known nature photographer with thousands of published images. But his journey into photography originally began on a long hike along the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 1971. During this 2000+ mile journey he brought along an old camera of his grandfather's. When Robert finished this long journey, it was Rodale Press who contacted him and subsequently published one of his photos on the cover of a book called “Hiking the Appalachian Trail" with an additional 13 more of his photos inside. But that was only the beginning for Robert who was just getting started with his passion for photography.

When he had finished his graduate work in biology, Robert also entered a contest by Nikon and finished in 4th place. Shortly after this, he began to take classes in photography and he also began teaching nature photograpy classes. He has also taught Wilderness Studies as a full time faculty member at Idaho State University for six years. But it wasn't until he moved to Durango, Co. that he began his work in photography full time.

Robert's photography has been featured in many books, magazines, gift items and many calendars. His photos have been seen in national ad campaigns by organizations such as Adobe, Amtrak, The National Audubon Society, The National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy and Phillips Petroleum.

Robert is a great admirer of the wolf and his photos have been used to to help in the restoration of the wolves. Photos of his were used in a new wolf video presentation produced by the WildEarth Guardians and narrated by Alan Arkin. This video was made to facilitate efforts to protect and restore wolves. In 2011 the International Wolf Center Calendar consisted exclusively of Robert's photos. Robert is also the recipient of many photo awards throughout the years. His work is exceptional as you will see in the photos below of the wolves.
