Join The Trade of Shame Campaign Today!

Just this last weekend 1,200 dogs that had been kept in the jungle for several days without food and water are now safe thanks to an incredible rescue effort. The weak and exhausted dogs were intercepted in two separate raids by Thai coalition forces. The Royal Thai Police, the Royal Thai Navy Border Patrol and members of the Animal Activists Alliance Thailand were all involved.

These Thai law enforcement organizations arrested international dog meat smugglers in the Ban Phang District of Nakorn Phanom Province. On Saturday alone, a convoy with around 800 dogs was intercepted late at night by them. The dogs had been kept in the jungle for several days and were in extremely poor condition. These dogs that have been saved by the hand of fate are now in the care of the animal rescue organization called Soi dogs Foundation. As can be imagined this rescue effort is overwhelming both physically and monetarily.

Last August, Soi Dogs, a non profit rescue group based in Thailand, launched its "Trade of Shame" campaign to bring to an end to the inhumane and barbaric dog meat trade that is so rampant in the East. The campaign has and will continue to concentrate on the core of the problem; which is ending the dog meat trade altogether through the stronger enforcement of existing laws and the introduction of stronger legislation.

Since the campaign’s start a year ago, more arrests of smugglers have been made than in the preceding 15 years. Although this is wonderful news it has also presented another enormous challenge to them – how to care for the literally thousands of dogs recovered during these arrests.

The scale of the problem is massive and well beyond the normal operating budget of Soi Dogs. Help is urgently needed to shelter and treat the rescued dogs and also help bring an end to the illegal dog meat trade. To help, please visit the Soi Dogs website here.

It's just so very sad that all people cannot look into the eyes of these creatures and see the love for us that God planted there...Dogs and other pets have been so instrumental in helping people have a much greater life...I cannot believe ANYONE could harm them, much less use them in this way...May God deal with those who want to harm His creations..for it is not MY decision as to how to do it! (Thank God!)

In a lot of places, dogs and cats are a source of food..not pets...

To Teri Payne....Doesn't matter...it is wrong when ANY animal is treated cruelly and suffers whether for food or as a pet...what has happened to empathy? There should be tougher penalties on the monsters that inflict such pain to the innocent!!!!

People who eat dogs & cats, and torture & abuse animals are "Sub-Humans"
They are Satanic & have no Soul. May these people rot in hell !

I would love to see the people that hurt these puppies right there in that cage, you are very bad for doing that,

God bless the ones that kept after this issue and actually DID something. To the ATTITUDE that "they are a source of food, not pets", there are a lot of other things the human body can eat that is much better for it than meat of ANY kind. A dog or cat is an intelligent and sensitive being that would happily curl up with it's companion human. To bypass that requires a form of heartlessness that is disappearing off this planet anyway. So better to get on board than be a dinosaur with one-way thinking.

Between the dogs/cats/ Sark Fins/Tiger parts/Rhinocers Horns/Gorilla-Monkey-Chimps-etc./Elephant tusks- THE ORIENT IS WAGING A "TERMINATE ALL ANIMALS WAR" If these were people-the US/UK/UN/Europe would have already put economic sanctions in place if not an all out war.

Im glad they rescued those dogs and those people who helped them are lifesavers.Without them those dogs would have died. It just makes me furious thinking about whthey were gonna do to those dogs. I believe dogs should be treated like best friends and not be treated like a piece of food

I'm so against people eating animals who are pets, like dogs. It makes me cry and it makes me sick, and it makes me hate these people. But unfortunately the rest of the world eats cows, pigs, and chickens, who usually aren't pets, and that is accepted. I think the biggest issue is not necessarily what we all eat, but whether they are treated humanely until they are slaughtered. It makes me sick that they eat and abuse the same animal that I consider a family member, my beloved dog. I hate it and I'm against it, but I'm also against any animal being slaughtered. It will never end, we'll never stop the world from eating any kind of meat they want to eat. But my issue is more the way people treat our beautiful, innocent animals. Treat them like gold until you slit their throats. People are just sick....period.
