A scrappy little English bulldog is fighting his way to YouTube stardom.

The pup, affectionately named Tebow by his breeders, was taped taking his first steps last month. He grunts, squirms, and fumbles, pulling himself forward on his front paws. He yelps enthusiastically at the camera, his entire tiny body shaking with effort.

Although Tebow isn’t the name his owners have given him, breeder Scott Lathrop of Suburban Bullies said that the puppy has certainly earned his nickname.

“He’s kind of like a Tebow,” Lathrop told the New York Daily News. “He’s likes getting into it with the other puppies. He’s always sparring and punting them around.”

A video of Tebow was uploaded last month by the Lathrop’s bulldog breeding business in Portales, N.M. At that time, Tebow was 3 weeks old. He’s already captured the attentions of more than 300,000 views.

Tebow’s new owners, a young couple in their 30s, will be flying in this weekend to take Tebow to his new home in Hollywood. Lathrop thinks he’s ready to be a superstar.

“He’s a firecracker, really feisty, just like in the video,” said Lathrop. “He’s definitely an alpha male.”

It is just such hard work being a puppy. I love him. Bless his furry paws. Such beautiful noises too :)

I went thru an interesting set of emotions while watching this. At the start, I thought , oh, how cute! Yet the more the pup got in distress, the more anxious I got,the more I wanted the camera person to stop teasing & pick the pup up to soothe him. I wanted to cut the video off but I wanted to see what happened. I realized that once a mother or father or anyone in tune recognizes the sound of distress in animals & man the natural thing , perhaps, is to feel this anxiety. I'm glad I watched it all because of getting to see the loving touches at the end. Whew!! I think I need a cup of java!! :) :)

  4. I too was getting concerned. The puppy had obviously picked up a hair or lint from the floor and couldn't get it out of his mouth. Also a pup this size would not roam too far from it's Mother and was probably calling for her. Most babies of any kind do. He is very cute, again most puppies and kittens are at this stage so I have to wonder what the purpose is, in all this attention.

These dogs have been bred to a grotesque body shape. It is very sad to see this struggling pup, legs too short and head too big.

Their heads are so big they have to be delivered surgically. Perhaps the mother dog is not in the video because she is recovering.

This is more a story of whoever is behind the camera, who supports this sort of inter-species dependency and cruelty.
