Watch the heartwarming encounter between a young pachyderm and the sea.

When a baby elephant saw the ocean for the first time, he knew exactly what to do: play!

The elephant calf frolicked in the waves of the Andaman Sea off the Thai island of Phuket*, PowerFM 94.9 reported, entertaining tourists on the beach. The splash-happy elephant calf spent several minutes enjoying the refreshing waters of the Andaman Sea, to the delight of tourists capturing the endearing scene on camera.

Early this year, a baby elephant was rescued from a well in India and return to his home in the jungle.

Last year, a woman in northern Malawi began hand-raising an orphaned baby elephant named Moses.

*Phuket, which is approximately the size of Singapore, is Thailand’s largest island. The island is connected to mainland Thailand by two bridges. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber, and enjoys a rich and colorful history. The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign ship logs of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English traders. The region now derives much of its income from tourism. (Via Wikipedia)

As sweet as this video is, clearly, this baby is with people, and not with his mama. Baby elephants and their mothers don't part by choice; which means, this baby was forceably removed. Where is his mother?
