Rick Mora Wants to Put Your Tribe on TV, and He Needs Your Help

Would you like to see a TV series that spotlights, on a weekly basis, American Indian tribes all over the United States? How's this for a bonus -- it's hosted by Rick Mora, Yaqui and Apache, an actor who is perhaps the most successful Native male model working today? Well, that's what Mora and producers have in mind with Native America, and they're looking for funding through IndieGoGo.

What is Native America? Native America is meant to inspire, educate and open the average American’s eyes to the mystery of life on a reservation and the diverse people who struggle to survive AND thrive there. Spotlighting each tribes diversity and drawing parallels to other cultures throughout America.

Each tribe is amazingly different not only in ceremonies and rituals but also with their relationship, history and treaties with the US government. Some tribes like the Seminoles are thriving while others like The Pine Ridge Reservation is one of the poorest in the United States with a 70% poverty rate and 60% of their children are in the foster care system waiting for adoption.

Why is this? Native America will shed light on these topics along with many other mysteries of Native Americans all through THEIR perspective and words.

In each episode will visit and showcase one to two tribes depending on the size of the tribe.

This the best idea so far--and done by someone most people know. Many reservations do well or at least get by but Pine Ridge needs help badly. Need someone that can come up with ideas to utilize all that land to help them. Just them. get these residents together of a like mind to turn the things that belong to them to better all the native people on Pine Ridge. Rick Mora please help them to regain their children from foster care. THAT is not right or Legal.

  10. Unknown says:

This is a beautiful project and opportunity for all people to get to know the struggles, culture and how the Native American tribes are living in today's society. It's a brilliant ideal to have Rick Mora, a well known Native American, actor, model and advocate for so many charities to carry this torch of shining light on Native American tribes and people who have been silence and invisible in our society for much too long. This is a project that is long overdue in it's making.

I'm not sure if we have native blood running through our veins. We're African American. Grandma often said we are also Cherokee and Black Creek. Grew up in Alabama. I would love to see programs like this!

Not all Native Americans/American Indians are recognized nor were they ever, as a whole, on a reservation. Hope you give them a mention as well...

i would love to see this project go forward my grandmother was always said to be half cherokee but this has never been proven whether i am part native american or not, i have always been embarrassed by the way natives were treated by the greedy white men and i have always admired the way the native americans revere mother earth we could all learn lots from their philosophy before we ruin this planet for human habitation i want to learn more about the modern tribes and their problems we all need to find a way to help restore them to prosperity

Native Americans need an access for all the folks (especially those who disrespect us, and) that really want to learn and share our knowledge, culture, family and RESPECT we hold for each other and especially our elders. Sounds like a wonderful idea to show everyone with any media -- who Native People are! This Series could be funded through the US Federal Government. Of course, with reports to submit, the extra work and communication would be great. Use the mystery of all, to help the Tribes that really need help, to help their citizens to LIVE again - and not commit suicide. Help the Tribes to help those in need of a real and tangible peace-making start. If they know us personally, then we all would think twice before we disrespect each other. Ah, so much to say, and much to do!! Yakoke for this opportunity to state my vote to keep moving forward. Blessings

  28. Rick Mora is a beautiful Spiritual nan inside and out.I'm in the UK but would love to see this documentary.Regards Christine Courtliff.

I'd look forward to watching this series very much. I always had a picture in my head of what a 'Reservation' was like until I lived on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation with my late husband. It's a true eye opener. All peoples should have their eyes opened! I was blessed, humbled, belittled and blessed again by my experiences. I'd not change those experiences. You can't possibly understand 'truth' until you 'LIVE IT'! It surely isn't what your history teacher taught you in high school.

  32. dawn says:

I am so excited!!! This is the most fantastic thing to happen for the people. The more knowledge one acquires paves the way for the understanding that we all need to be present in a world of respect, compassion, harmony and equality.

  33. Kerry says:

I had a beautiful poignant comment and the computer ate it. So, fine. Here's my gut response- YES. As one who grew up only whispers, I'd love to understand more. As one who is dissatisfied, unenamoured, disillusioned, ashamed, and otherwise repelled by the culture I was brought up in, even if it was on the fringe of it, I see the great need to connect to something older and wiser than this violent, greedy, adolescent, industrial society that is dominating the landscape. I am ready to watch and listen, because I know I have so much to learn.

  34. Unknown says:

Cant wait to see this, i just pray it airs in Australia...

  35. Unknown says:

Please let me know when it's available , I'm so EXCITED ,that someone is doing this . I'm Kickapoo tribe and I want to learn more.Thank you

  37. Unknown says:

  38. Unknown says:

    Long overdue.

  39. Anonymous says:

  40. Frances De La Rosa Reyna says:

Would be very interesting to watch.

  41. Unknown says:

I have lived in many countries and learned of many cultures and the Native American people of the Indian Nation would be a very interesting program to learn of the many Indian cultures, customs and beliefs. Please let me know when the program will begin. Indian blood flows in my family tree according to my mother and I would love to learn more of my Indian brothers and sisters lives though I am mixed of many cultures.

  42. Peacenjoy says:

This is a major gift to the USA and the world. Indigenous peoples everywhere have a knowing and understanding of life and Earth that will help in the spiritual growth of all.
