Palmerton, Pennsylvania- Mother bear enjoy swimming pool on a hot day

"it was just so hot for a 2 week period that that they decided to take a dip" youtube user says. "I did not call the game commission, and no bears were harmed. These bears were simply using the pool to cool off during a 2 week heat wave." In the end mama bear turn around her head and says thank you from whoever this pool is.

Pennsylvania has been a home to black bears since before the earliest settlers arrived. They have been roaming in our forests, wallowing in our bogs and swamps, and living around our farms and homes for a long, long time.

Unfortunately there's as much misinformation about bears in circulation as there is fact. That's too bad because bears needn't be feared nor should they be dismissed as harmless. They simply need to be respected.

Pennsylvania's bear population has been increasing for years. As a result, bears and people are coming into contact more than ever before. These encounters are occurring because development is encroaching into or occupying bear habitat, and bears have learned that there's easy-to-obtain food where people live. Learning about bears and being aware of their habits is important for people who live in bear country, which now spreads throughout most of the state.

  1. Must be a day for sharing clips of animals enjoying a swim in the pool -:) This just came my way only a few moments ago https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10204629474523114 But I do remember the fun we had with our three rescued bears and the times they had playing in the pool too - not just when they were youngsters but when they grew up - well in size anyway ! This brought back those wonderful memories .......

  3. With regard to this line "Unfortunately there's as much misinformation about bears in circulation as there is fact. That's too bad because bears needn't be feared nor should they be dismissed as harmless. They simply need to be respected." The same holds true for WOLVES.

2 nd paragraph states that the bears were there long before settlers arrived then goes on to read that the bears have been roaming in ....what? OUR bogs, swamps, etc ? Seems to me that people are in the bears yard, forests, swamps etc.All animal life was here before mankind yet we take their land, abuse and pollute it and complain when they need. What a shame...what a shame.

I am so glad that you did not call the game commission. It obvious that all mamma bear wanted to do is cool off and it seems that she was very appreciative of it. Thank you, you are great people!!!! It is wonderful to watch this family enjoy a bit of fun. Peace and Love

I watch the video several times. It is not something that I will ever be able to witness with my own eyes, living in a suburb full of concrete. Thank you so much
