A bear's head was freed after being stuck in a bucket for more than a month--the daring rescue was caught on video

A viewer sent us a link to this amazing video on Facebook showing a daring rescue of a bear.

It appears the small black bear’s head was trapped inside of a plastic bucket and according to a Facebook page called “Save the Bucket Bear” set up on Sunday, the bear had been spotted with the bucket on head for more than a month.

Pictures of the “Bucket Bear” and pleas for the game commission in the Perry Township area to take humane action to help the bear were posted to the facebook page.

Online reports say the men in the video are volunteers who went on a mission to help the bear after authorities did not respond immediately.

The video is pretty unbelievable and we do not suggest anyone attempting rescues like this—but it is nice to see a happy ending for the curious bear.

There is a video. I can't believe that this bear went for a month with a bucket on it's head before anybody did anything. Thank you guys for finally helping the poor thing. I guess better late than never.

There are still awesome people in the world. Thank U for helping him. What else did we expect from the law. They were probably to busy eating doughnuts to care.

I'm glad the law never tried to help because we all know what the cops would have done. They don't have any tools but their gun and would have shot the poor thing.

Awesome - just awesome! I can't believe nobody helped this poor bear for a month? I don't get it. Where are the Fish and Wildlife agents? I get there are very few of them in a big area, but a month? I am amazed this bear didn't get hit by a vehicle or walk into something or off something not being able to see. You were all incredibly brave and caring, kudos to all of you!

How could it not be easy to rescue this bear? It's a baby! I can't believe the town cops or authorities didn't do this sooner. I'm surprised nobody shot it, but thank goodness they didn't! Thank you to the great people who took the time and cared enough to rescue him!

This cub was very fortunate to have made it so far and to be saved by caring humans. Unfortunately wildlife and game commission are held by the law to uphold laws, even here in Canada, I've heard sad stories. For example fawn caught in a wired fence, authorities said to not feed or give it water and to leave nature take it's course..... sigh. But when it comes down to hunting...
