The 2014 Mataatua senior kapa haka regional competition was held in Tauranga at BayPark Arena.
The Whakataetae Kapahaka o Mataatua 2014 event is a regional competition bringing together the best kapahaka performers from Tauranga Moana, Te Whakatohea, Te Whanau a Apanui, Ngai Tuhoe, Ngati Awa and Ngai Tai.
These teams compete for the right to represent Mataatua Waka at the Te Matatini National Competition.
This year on 22nd February 2014 20 teams will compete in Tauranga Moana at Ohotutaiihi Pa (ASB Bay Park Stadium).
The expected audience for this event will be from 6,000 - 9,000 people from all over Aotearoa, coming to witness one of the Premier Regional Kapahaka Events on the Te Matatini Calendar. (Source)
