Ever wondered what noise a rhino makes? A video maker in South Africa made this exact discovery while recording a pair of rescue calves screeching in anticipation of their next meal.

Animals are instantly recognisable by the sound they make. But not every animal makes a noise we are particularly familiar with – the white rhino being a prime example.

That isn’t to say that they don’t attempt to express themselves vocally however, as one filmmaker discovered while recording a pair of rhinos in South Africa.

The sound they make has been likened to a 'land dolphin' and the noise a balloon makes while air escapes. The video was captured in Hluhluwe and featured baby mammals Kombe and Nyoni. In the clip, the pair make a series of screeching sounds.
