Yellowstone and Montana are close to reaching their goal of killing 1,300 of America’s last wild bison.

Nearly seven hundred bison have been captured this winter, with close to five hundred having already been sent to slaughter. Additionally, over 400 buffalo have been shot and killed by hunters along Yellowstone’s boundaries.

Yesterday, due to pressure from a public access law suit filed last year by the Animal Legal Defense Fund on behalf of BFC’s media coordinator, Yellowstone National Park held one of two escorted media tours of their Stephens Creek buffalo trap, where this year alone nearly seven hundred wild bison have been captured for slaughter.

BFC was present for the tour, along with one local paper, an independent photo journalist, and other bison advocates.

Bloodied babies that had been separated from their mothers were ramming each other, panting, panicked, and looking at us as if pleading, “Who are you? Where is my mother? Why am i here? Why are you just standing there crying? Let me out!”

Please take immediate action by contacting Yellowstone National Park at #307-344-2002 and demand that they stand up to Montana’s livestock industry and represent the sacred bison who should be under their protection.

Please also call Montana Governor Steve Bullock #406-444-3111 to insist that he listen to the majority of Montanans, Americans, and people around the world who support wild, migratory bison freely roaming outside of Yellowstone National Park.

This is Disgusting, so wrong in every way, Yellowstone park should be protecting animals not slaughtering them. Perhaps if they would stop the slaughter of the wolves they would keep the numbers in control. But it is all about money and greed above causing great suffering to animals. Trapping and rounding them up with there babies and young ones and sending wild animals long journeys to be slaughtered is causing even more suffering if they are going to slaughter them it would be a lot kinder to slaughter them on site but no it is all about money and profit not the well being and the suffering of the animals. Have they forgotten how they last almost wiped out the Buffalo. How can they treat them like this and when they have babies as well. So Sickening but the Greed of these money Grabbing vile humans never surprise me.

Why are we slaughtering Bison? This is appalling needs to be stopped. Are they destroying private property....no. We need to learn to live with these animals instead of constantly slaughtering them to trim their numbers. Yellowstone should be protecting these poor helpless animals.

  4. Unknown says:

WHO DO WE CALL TO HAVE THIS STOPPED. THIS IS UNFAIR AND CRUEL AND JUST ISN'T NECESSARY.

Some one needs to put a hole in the fence and spook them out. Then run like hell so you don"t get caught.

REALLY? is there no other option to killing the bison? It is just not right!!!!!

They are killing the bison so the natives can't use them for food. They are trying their best to kill or take everything the natives have left including the natives!! If this were happening any where else or with any other race people would be up in arms doing something. I've learned this winter that we are a lost people who will always be abused by the US Government.

The animals that are taken should go to the native Indians the government is still destroying everything the natives stand for just like the oil pipe line.

Sure you get the numbers back up for Bison and wolves then you slaughter them leaving babies behind......Yellowstone needs to stand up to the government running this show.....this is beyond horrible and ...bet they won't show or tell park patrons what they're up to....stop this now and save our bison and wolves...let nature do what they do best

Sometimes I wish that human beings would become extinct, for the good of the earth and its creatures. We are a real detriment to life on this planet.

Honestly, some of these comments are just out there. "so the natives can't eat" this is not the 1800's. they kill them so they won't eat the grass lands that they want for their cattle. You can call all you want, if they don't want to protect the buffalo that wonder out of the park now then you can rest assure they won't give a rat's ass if you call. They did the same to the wolves because they might get their cattle. Why did we bother to bring them back only to slaughter them for a different reason? People, surge of the earth.

I am astonished and do not understand. There is no logical reason for this to happen. I ask WHY because this article gives me no good reason.

  15. Disgusting!! It's not like they are abundant in large numbers. Taking calves away from their mothers and inhumane treatment of any animal is inexcusable!! This needs to STOP! America the great my A$$ !!

  16. Unknown says:

All I can say is that I wish and hope that these people so "Outraged" by the slaughter of these animals, REMEMBER this when they go to Kroger tomorrow and buy "GRADE A GRASS FED 100% PURE BUFFALO SIRLOIN BEEF" when planning their " end of summer" cookout this weekend... and ALSO remember those "Cage-free" chickens that were led to believe THEY were living the life.. or the goats (Lamb) for their Mall "Gyros" or their "Veal Parm" at 'Olive Garden' at lunch with their 'Coworkers'.... ACTIVISM is only a matter of "Convenience" anymore... SHFH....

  17. No! This is so wrong.
