A white lion and a tiger 'love story' creates 4 of the rarest and cutest cubs on the planet.

These adorable cubs may look cute and unassuming but they are in fact the rarest of their species – and could grow to be the biggest cats in the world.

The four handsome male ‘liger’ cubs are the first ever to be born from a white male lion and white female tiger, making them the world’s most unique big cats.

There are only around 300 white lions and 1,200 white tigers left in the world, so the cubs’ father, Ivory and mother, Saraswati, are extremely rare in their own right.

But now, having been brought together at Myrtle Beach Safari in South Carolina, they have produced the first ever white lion-tiger hybrids - commonly known as ligers.

There are around 1,000 ligers in the world – most in captivity – but none of them are white.

Born only six weeks ago, the young animals already weigh 15lbs and gain on average a pound in weight every day.

And the boys, named Yeti, Odlin, Sampson and Apollo, already have their own personalities.

    Awww how beautifu!!

  16. Anonymous says:

Hope they grow to maturity without anyone killing them or poaching them.

I am told that messing around with genetics also messes up their genes and health as time goes on. Why do they feel it necessary to cross with all of the biology not good.

  18. Anonymous says:

They seem to have colour. Will they eventually grow up to be white or will they have the colour they were born with? Ligers are usually sterile. Will any of them be able to produce offspring, or is that to be seen when they grow up?

  19. Anonymous says:

    they are precious

  20. Anonymous says:

Why would anyone kill or poach them? They're captive animals likely to be kept in ridiculous conditions at that horrible example of a wildlife park. Furthermore, they're not even a species nor are their parents, they're just messed up hybrids that are likely to die from health complications due to their stuffed up genetics. This is disgusting.

    Very cute.

Awe they are beautiful will they be safe in that wild life park. Thst is wot everybody is questioning! this is due too the terrible happenings wiv the wolves tigers elephants and many more !!

God's creations are always beautiful but this rarity is so pure and perfect it takes your breath away. Thank you Lord for allowing such beauty in this world today.

  28. Unknown says:

It wasn't forced, or genetically manipulated. Are mules messed up? No. . .

  29. Anonymous says:

The ARE cute and yes, lets hope they will always be safe!!!!!

  30. Anonymous says:

Well arent you just a bag of joy
Tell us how you really feel.

  31. Anonymous says:

That's the oddest thing but the cutest thing ever,,I want one.

  32. Anonymous says:

cute but why mess with nature? There should be a moratorium on breeding these hybrids....I really hate to see man manipulate nature like this

  33. Jenn1nAustralia says:

They are beautiful but with so few of the white lions left in the world it would have been better for the lion to have bred with another white lion to keep the species going...

  34. Unknown says:

    They are just so beautiful!!!!

  35. Anonymous says:

Truly ligers do die young due to heart problems. Normally their bodies grow too big for thier heart. Its sad and cruel really :\

  36. Anonymous says:

The ligers weren't manipulated. The male wasn't forced to mate with the female, there wasn't any genetic engineering. Geez, read the article, people. I pray that these little guys remain safe & are allowed to live their lives peacefully.

  37. Anonymous says:

Would LOVE to HUG them but of course I know I can't. SOOO BREATH TAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!

  38. Anonymous says:

GOD SURE MAKES BEAUTIFUL THINGS AMEN

White lions need habitat protection so their small population in the wild can survive...
seems a waste of genes to be breeding one to a tiger.
As for white tigers - they are just a recessive colour mutation, the problem is that to get the pretty colour zoos have bred different varieties indiscriminately making most of them 'mongrels' with no genetic value to wild & endangered populations.
Forget white tigers, save the Siberian, the Sumatran, the South China. the Malayan, the Indo-Chinese...
don't let these sub species go the way of the Bali tiger, the Java, & the Caspian - all extinct now thanks to poaching & habitat loss.

  40. Unknown says:

it is a blessing for this to happen in nature and these white lingers are a precious gift that needs to be kept safe i think the hard part is to find white females to mate them with when they come of age the white lions and white tigers also need to be protected against poachers

  41. Anonymous says:

please keep these beautiful animals safe from harms way xx

  42. Anonymous says:

Enough with the crazy talk. There was no genetic engineering here and certainly no intervention from "god". A lion screwed a tiger. The babies are cute. The end. Let's just appreciate them and try not to f#ck things up for them, like our species does with almost everything.

  43. Anonymous says:

    They are so cute.

  44. Anonymous says:

Very beautiful indeed. Now to keep them healthy and safe!

  45. Anonymous says:

they are so cute even if they have color mom and dad are just so beautiful

  46. Anonymous says:

So cute. Hope they have a long and happy life. Oh a safe life!

  47. Anonymous says:

Perhaps not genetic messing , but because of containment in zoo environment without "natural choice " to mate with , these animals urge to reproduce has no choice , thus unnatural breeding of mixed species will show us if genes will get faulty messages and render these cubs w medical problems when they mature . Time will tell , wish them health!
Cuz u can't fool mother nature!!

  48. Anonymous says:

    Too Cute!

  49. Kathy says:

They are adorable I wonder if they will have mane's or not & will they be pure white like their parent's

  50. Unknown says:

Let us hope, that what Nature created, Human wan't destroy. White Lions same as White Tigers are very rare in the wild ,yet the Nature found the way to preserve both this species by crossing them together. The result - cutest Cubs, which will carry the genes of both Lion and Tiger to the future.
    May it will be bright!

  51. May they be protected .
    By God himself...

  52. May they be protected .
    By God himself...

  53. Anonymous says:

They are beautiful, but why mess with the natural order of things,,

  54. Anonymous says:

Pplease keep them safe and well as they are adorable

  55. Anonymous says:

    wow fantastic

  56. Anonymous says:

Nothing natural about this. Lions and tigers do not meet in the wild. These cute little cubs are a man-made breed.

  57. Anonymous says:

Actually..... Female mules are sterial .... You ALWAYS have to go back to a Horse Mare to breed.... So that DOES PROVE a gene crossing issue could occur.

  58. Unknown says:

Male ligers are sterile- these 4 boys cannot pass anything on to further the gene pool or to help protect the species.

  59. Anonymous says:

I think it's a shame that they are eating time cross breeding for "New" species rather than building up the population of these rare cats. Mutations like this come with a price in nature, doubling them is a sad thing to do, and inhumane to the creatures.

  60. Anonymous says:

I bet these would taste good with BBQ sauce!

  61. Robin says:

Is beauty all that people seem to care about within modern day society?
These 4 cubs are darling with their big bright eyes and I wish them healthy lives but I do not see the point in breeding them.....
Ligers like tigons (the female lion male tiger hybrid) are hybrids -period- the males are usually born sterile and therefore can not breed with another liger meaning no baby ligers...
My point is they are not a proper species and are unable to produce their own young without being back crossed with either a Lion or a Tiger - which creates the hybrids Ti-Liger or Li-Liger (Ti-Tigon and Li-Tigon)
I love nature and all its weird, wacky and wonderful creatures but I think and please this is just my opinion, everyone has one, that we should start saving the species that we have now and are killing off as we speak.
The Siberian, Bengal, Sumartran tigers etc along with all the other large felines instead of mixing the genetics up of an already decreasing gene pool.
