I have an old friend (78) and a raven was her and her sisters pet as they where growing up. The Myna Bird has the same qualities but more on the tropical side and LOUDER :D
I didn't realize they were so huge. My husband would be over the moon if he owned a raven as a pet.
I think she should teach him to say "Nevermore." :)
As far as I know Ravens are a protected species (at least here in California), it is a $3,000.00 fine if you are caught killing a raven...it is also Illigal in California to keep as a pet or possession, any wild animal...
